All the best for 2006 and I hope you enjoy our site. Firstly A message from your Captain.....

After a resurgent 2004 season Knockholt had high hopes for 2005. A high level of expectancy was attached to the signings of a year before, namely Roffey G,Roffey E and Reeman, largely because we all knew what we could expect from everyone else!
The season started at a slow trot however as Roffey G and Thresher were caught up with rugby and Reeman with work(always over-rated).Thresher returned soon enough but the continued absence of the other two , Finnmans perpetual knee injury and babies on the horizon for Hope left a big hole in the pace bowling department. In the spin department Collins’s re-introduction of the leg-side full toss into his armoury after a magnificent 2004 season will have to undergo scrutiny  as his opponents seem to have picked it!
If there were problems in the bowling, the batting was certainly not exempt as we lost the 1st league game to Chevening despite a valiant late order rally by Searle and Blackmore. The disappointing loss(by 0 runs)!!) was to be more or less replicated another 3 times during the course of the season as we repeatedly chased and choked within grasp of victory.  Seven losses and an abandonment were enough to propel us to 3rd from bottom in the hard school that is the Bat & Ball sports village league.
On the upside for the new season it will only need a marginal improvement for Knockholt to be once again challenging for honours. The youth policy is showing signs of life with Reay and Jones jnr stepping up. The old guard (we averaged a mere 42 years of age against weald!) show no signs of losing appetite, Jamos perhaps bowling better than ever, so too Hardstone. Hopefully availability of the aforementioned personnel and a couple of others will significantly strengthen the team in all three facets of the game. A field including Hope ,Roffey,Finn,Reay and Fenn(either) may well be enough to suffocate anyone-certainly no one should under estimate the collective will power of a knockholt team hungry for glory!... especially at the fortress !
